Fix a missed punch

Missed punches are normal. Someone gets pulled onto the line and forgets to clock out; the kiosk is busy at shift change. What matters is that the correction happens before payroll reads the timecard.

Managers with access to the store. Employees cannot edit their own punches — they raise it with a manager, who makes the correction. Every edit records who made it, when, and what the value was before.

  1. Open Time tracking and find the employee and the day.
  2. Select the punch and enter the correct time.
  3. Add a short note saying what happened (“forgot to clock out, left at 10:15pm”). Your future self reviewing payroll will want it.
  4. Save.

If a clock-in exists with no clock-out, the timecard shows the shift as still open. Close it with the real end time rather than deleting the punch — deleting loses the fact that the person worked.

  • Forgot to clock out. Add the clock-out at the actual time they left.
  • Clocked in early by mistake. Correct the start time; do not delete and re-add, which loses the audit trail.
  • Punched at the wrong store. Punches belong to the store whose kiosk recorded them. Contact support if a punch landed at the wrong location; it cannot be moved from the timecard view.
  • Kiosk was offline. Punches recorded offline sync when the connection returns. Wait for the sync before adding manual punches, or you will end up with duplicates.

A corrected timecard still has to be approved before it counts. Approving locks it so it cannot change underneath a payroll run — see Approve timecards.
