Welcome to Clockout
Clockout is the operations app for restaurants: one place to build schedules, track hours, run payroll, and manage who works where. Managers work in the web app on a laptop or phone; the team clocks in and out on an iPad kiosk at the store.
What you can set up on day one
Section titled “What you can set up on day one”Most restaurants get value from Clockout in about an hour. In order:
- Create your account and your first store. A store is a physical location — its address, time zone, and pay period settings live here. Everything else hangs off the store, so get the time zone right before anyone clocks in.
- Add your team. Each employee gets a role, a pay rate, and the stores they are allowed to work at. See Add a team member.
- Set up the iPad kiosk. Install the Clockout kiosk app on an iPad in the back of house and pair it with your store. Your team clocks in with a personal PIN.
- Publish your first schedule. Build the week, publish it, and your team is notified. See Create a schedule.
How clocking in works
Section titled “How clocking in works”Once the kiosk is paired, clocking in is three taps. Those punches become timecards, timecards become approved hours, and approved hours are what payroll pays. That chain is worth remembering — when a paycheck looks wrong, the answer is almost always in the timecard.
Where to go next
Section titled “Where to go next”If you are setting up for the first time, work through the Getting started articles in order. If you already have a store running, the Scheduling, Time tracking, and Payroll topics cover the week-to-week work.
