Set up the iPad kiosk

The kiosk is a dedicated iPad running the Clockout app, left on and plugged in somewhere your team passes on the way in — usually the back of house, near the schedule.

  • An iPad running a currently supported iPadOS version.
  • Wi-Fi at the store.
  • A power outlet and, ideally, a stand or wall mount. The kiosk is meant to stay put.
  1. Install Clockout from the App Store on the iPad.
  2. Open the app and choose Set up as kiosk.
  3. Sign in with a manager account that has access to the store.
  4. Pick the store this iPad belongs to and confirm.

Pairing is per store. One iPad serves one location; if you run two stores, each gets its own kiosk.

Because the kiosk lives in a shared space, treat it as a fixed-purpose device:

  • Turn on Guided Access (Settings → Accessibility) so the app cannot be exited without a passcode.
  • Disable Auto-Lock so the screen stays on the clock-in view.
  • Keep it on the store’s Wi-Fi network.

Have one employee clock in and back out. Then confirm the punches appear on their timecard in the web app — that round trip proves the pairing, the network, and the store assignment are all correct. If the punches are on the wrong day, revisit the store’s time zone in Set up your store.

Day-to-day use is covered in Clock in on the iPad kiosk.
